Patio Slab Thickness Tips - Is a Thicker Concrete Slab Better?
According to the video, a minimum thickness of 3.5 inches is usually recommended for concrete patio slabs, but 4 inches is better.
The maximum thickness is 6 inches, and an 8 or 12 inch slab may be overkill. Adding reinforcing metal to a 4 inch slab is a good idea, and for a 6 inch slab, 1/2 inch rebar is recommended.

Make sure the ground is level before you start pouring. Use a good quality concrete mix. Vibrate the concrete to remove air bubbles. Cover the concrete with plastic sheeting to help it cure. Allow the concrete to cure for at least 24 hours before using the patio.
