This Surprised 40 Year Home Remodeling Pro - 6 Foot on Center Stud Spacing


In this video the builder is surprised to find that a house he was working on had 6-foot on-center stud spacing. The house was built in the 1940s and is located in Riverside, California.

Greg believes that the reason for the large spacing is that lumber was scarce during World War II. He also believes that the house is able to withstand earthquakes because of the strong siding and the fact that it is not very big.

Also goes on to say that he is not suggesting that people build their homes with 6-foot on-center stud spacing. He believes that it is important to follow the building code and to consult with a professional engineer or contractor if you are unsure about how to build your home.
